Fianna Fail and Fine Gael to enter talks next week to discuss formation of a possible government

Just one week ago the good people of Ireland went to the polls to have their voice heard.

Fine Gael’s Leo Varadkar remains Taoiseach for the time being but what happens in the Dail next week is anyone’s guess.

What we do know however is that Fianna Fail have stated categorically that they’re not willing to talk to Sinn Fein under any circumstances to form a new government.

What that means essentially is that Sinn Fein have to fall back on whether Fine Gael are willing to talk to them – something that Varadkar said prior to the election they would never do.

But there’s a major hitch in that as Fianna Fail leader Micheal Martin has confirmed that his negotiating team will meet with Fine Gael early next week to discuss the possibility of forming a coalition government, more than likely with the Green Party.
