There are currently 457 asylum seekers who have recently arrived and are without government-provided housing, reports RTE.

This comes one month and one day after the government stopped offering accommodations to all those seeking international protection.

This is the second occurrence in the past year where the government has been unable to provide housing for all those seeking international protection due to a severe shortage.

However, the number of individuals without housing is increasing at a faster rate this time, reports RTE.

The last time the government stopped providing accommodations on January 24, 2023, there were less than half the number of individuals without housing compared to the current figure, which was 208.

It took another month for the number to exceed 400, reaching 408 on March 27, 2023, reports RTE.
