Fine Gael and Fianna Fail are to meet tomorrow to try and form a minority government

Arch rivals since the foundation of the State, there’s now a possibility that Fine Gael and Fianna Fail will be in government together.

The unlikely partnership is on the cards because no TD had enough votes on Thursday to be the new Taoiseach. From that came Enda Kenny practically begging Micheal Martin to be a partner in government.

Kenny even went so far as to offer Martin an equal partnership in the prime ministeral role of shared Taoiseach.

Kenny is said to be “doing anything he can” to be returned as the first Fine Gael Taoiseach to very loosely be Taoiseach following an election.

Party members from both Fine Gael and Fianna Fail are to meet in the morning in government buildings to try and form some sort of minority government.
