It has emerged throughout the government formation meetings that Fine Gael are said to be “hell bent” on keeping Irish Water at all costs.
The negotiations between Fine Gael and Fianna Fail have been going on for the past number of weeks and thus far – have proven to be completely fruitless.
Fine Gael are said to be “hell bent” on keeping Irish Water as it is with absolutely no room for negotiations.
Meanwhile, Fianna Fail are said to want to keep Irish Water but “kick the can down the road” so that another government will have to deal with the matter, but they don’t want to scrap it either.
It remains to be seen this week as to what, if any, sort of government coalition or minority government can be formed between the two historic arch enemies.
