The idea to implement a permanent double child benefit will be included in Fine Gael’s policy on children, reports RTE.
To help families with back-to-school expenditures, the party suggests that this be provided in August.
A Pay-Related Parents’ Benefit is also recommended by the policy, which is headed “Giving our children the best start in life,” reports RTE.
In an attempt to motivate parents to spend crucial time with their newborn infants, this would envision the rate of benefits being more directly correlated with a parent’s income.
Fine Gael has pledged to keep childcare expenses to a maximum of €200 per month for each child, or €600 for families with more than three kids.
Additionally, a commitment will be made to extend the Hot School Meals Program to all schools, reports RTE.
Both extensive steps for internet safety and a strengthening of Tusla’s child protection authorities are promised.
The strategy also calls for the creation of 30,000 spots in school-aged care and public early learning programs, starting with at least 100 new programs during the first two years of government.
In the second year of the ECCE program, an additional hour of free preschool is offered. Additionally, all childminders are eligible to receive the National Childcare Scheme subsidies, which now include new monthly limitations, reports RTE.
