Fine Gael has allegedly put aside several million euro to boost their chances of re-election.
The party has reputedly told its back benchers that there’s a party “slush fund” that all its parliamentary party candidates can dip into for posters, Facebook promotions, Twitter promotions, leaflets, local radio ads and even personnel staff.
One insider said “we believe we can push our message out there but we need to pay people to listen. Some people see it as buying votes but it’s just part and parcel of politics.”, she said.
