While Fingal County Council (FCC) sees fit to spend taxpayers’ money to celebrate gay pride it has also determined to bar ‘The Rally for Life’ from putting up posters advertising the July 2 pro-life rally in Dublin City as they’re too controversial.

In May, Fingal’s first Rainbow Crossing was installed near County Hall in Swords to coincide with the Fingal’s gay Pride celebrations at the taxpayers’ expense, a political statement which will now be made permanent, yet just a month later FCC made what many see as the political decision to ban pro-life posters.

So, while Fingal County Council does not believe it is contentious to have drag queens perform at supposedly “family friendly” events, it is somehow contentious for a section of the population to exercise their democratic right to express their opinions.

The censorship of one point of view and suppression of free speech by Fingal County Council is all the more disgraceful and blatantly hypocritical after the local authority pained itself to express support for LGBTIQCAPGNGFNBA pride.
