First responders are requesting the return of a missing defibrillator that was taken from a medical office, reports Breaking News.
The defibrillator was last seen on Thursday at the Oak Family Medical practice located in Carlow town.
This lifesaving device was generously donated by Winnie Lyons of New Oak Estate in memory of her late husband, Mick Lyons Snr, for the people of Carlow, reports Breaking News.
In a statement, the Carlow Town CFR mentioned: “Regrettably, the defibrillator at Oak Family Medical practice, also known as Dr. Moran’s, has not been returned, and a report has been filed with the gardaÃ.
“We are asking for any information regarding its location. If you have any details, please contact us or the gardaà so we can recover the defibrillator that the Lyons family kindly provided to help save lives in our community,” reports Breaking News.
The gardaà have confirmed that they are looking into the incident.
Caroline Dargan from Carlow Town CFR informed KCLR96FM that they waited two days before deciding to make this appeal.
Ms Dargan added: “We assume it was taken and its mindless vandalism and thuggery. This is upsetting for them (the Lyons family) and for us. If anyone has information or knows where it is, all we are looking for is that the defibrillator is put back or just leave it somewhere and let us know. To have it (defibrillator) taken and vandalism lives are being put at risk. Gardaà are going through CCTV footage to see if information can be gathered. The costs of the defibrillator and associated finance are significant and they are for saving lives. I don’t know why someone would take it,” reports Breaking News.
