Five migrants appear in court in connection with murder of Ashling Murphy who was murdered while out running




Five people accused in Ashling Murphy’s murder appear in court, reports RTE.

On January 12, 2022, a 23-year-old primary school teacher was murdered in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.

All five were arrested in Dublin yesterday and charged at Tullamore County Court this morning.

Marek Puska, 34, Lubomir Puska, 35, and Lucia Istokova, 34, were charged with withholding information between January 12, 2022 and January 27, 2022, reports RTE.

Two other people, 33-year-old Jozefina Grundzova and 38-year-old Vieira Gaziova, were charged with obstructing the apprehension of an alleged criminal from 12 to 14 January 2022.

All five, who are Slovak, were provided with interpreters for their court hearings.

The court imposed information restrictions on the disclosure of the addresses of the five accused.

Judge Michelle Finan granted the five defendants bail on a number of conditions, including surrendering their passports, living at addresses given to the court and informing gardaĆ­ of any changes, reports RTE.

The two men and three women are due to reappear at Tullamore County Court on July 26, when gardaĆ­ told the court a book of evidence would be served.

All have been given legal aid.

Ms Murphy, the man accused of killing 32-year-old Jozef Puska, is due to go on trial later this year, reports RTE.
