There was a truly remarkable story in India recently as an expecting mum miraculously gave birth to five babies without even knowing she had four more than expected.
The new mum of five little treasures, Manita Kumar went into unexpected labour two months early and gave birth to five unexpected girls on April 2 in Ambikapur, India. Reports say the new mum of an extra large family attended the local hospital when she feared that her baby was unhealthy but later found that she was actually about to give birth, then amazingly doctors discovered that she was expecting more than one bundle of joy. It is believed that all five babies weighed 2 or 3 pounds at the time of their birth.
The delighted dad told reporters that he and his wife felt “extremely blessed” to have all the children, as Manita had a son two years ago who died shortly after childbirth. The remarkable births came after the couple were not able to afford an ultrasound early on in the pregnancy. The new father explained Manita felt completely normal before she went into labour, so ‘there was no reason to believe she was pregnant with anything more than one healthy child’.
Meanwhile recent reports from India have now stated that the new mother has since been discharged from the hospital, the babies remain in the ICU, with Four of them suffering from jaundice whilst there is concern about their size. The parents were worried about how they were going to financially take care of the babies and all their medical bills, but the District Administration of Ambikapur is going to provide financial aid to the family.
The new parents have amusingly admitted to having confused the girls already, who are named Jiya, Jjanv, Jyoti, Jigayasa, and Janya. We guess there will be many sleepless nights ahead! but they will be surely worth it, what an remarkably heartwarming story.
