Flight operations at Shannon Airport suspended for a time this morning, after a plane carrying US service personnel aborted its take-off run due to mechanical failure

All flight operations at Shannon Airport were suspended for a time earlier today, after an aircraft carrying US service personnel was forced to abort its take-off run due to mechanical failure.

It is understood that the plane’s undercarriage malfunctioned. The plane stopped in the middle of the runway and was evacuated after flames were seen coming out of the undercarriage area. There were no injuries reported.

Flight operations have now resumed at the facility.
