The public have been warned to expect flooding in many areas throughout the weekend as as heavy snowfall from Storm Emma combined with spring tides will see many rivers burst their banks.
It is understood the warning comes as the country prepares for a second day of bad weather with further snow expected throughout the day.
Met Eireann say regions such as Dublin and Cork can expect to be at risk of flooding as the large accumulation of snowfall is expected to add to already high water levels at the country’s rivers.
