According to reports this morning widespread flooding is expected in many across the country in the wake of storm Ophelia.
The warning comes as Met Eireann say there will be between 30mm to 50mm of rainfall across the country with a rain band expected to be blown in from the atlantic in the early part of the morning.
Met Eireann also say the risk of flooding is greatly heightened given there will be rising tides in costal areas following a surge from the storm which is expected to bring winds in the region of 130kmph.
The national forecaster is also advising people to stay away from costal areas as high waves are expected in all waters surrounding Ireland.
