State lawmakers in Florida have voted overwhelmingly to approve a bill which would see predators who sexually abuse children under the age of 12 put to death.
The Florida State Senate voted 34-5 in favour of the bill while the State House of Representatives voted 95-14 with Governor and presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis expected to sign it into law in the coming weeks.
There has been some opposition however, particularly from so-called progressives and LGBTQIA+ activists and advocates who have claimed that the wording of the bill opens parents and doctors who support and assist children in gender “transitioning” could face death in Florida.
The new law would see those who have harmed the sexual organs of a child liable to execution, which trans activists fear would further deter adults from aiding confused children in mutilating their genitals.
Governor DeSantis had already signed a bill into law banning the chemical castration and genital mutilation of children in Florida recently, much to the consternation of the LGBTQIA+ mob and its powerful backers.
