Fly the Flag for Ireland – Grassroots Irish community Summer Festival planned for June and July to celebrate our unique Irish Identity and culture

A new summer Festival has been launched by www.FlytheFlagForIreland.com to celebrate our unique Irish identity.

The initiative is a simple one. The organisers are asking the Irish community, both in Ireland and around the world to literally fly the Irish Tricolour during the months of June and July to show our support for our unique Irish identity.

According to a spokesperson for Fly the Flag for Ireland, the summer festival idea came about after attending a Saint Patrick’s Day parade where a county council hired a corporate events company to put on “a paddy’s day show”. The spokesperson thought the parade was tacky and lacked the grassroots involvement of the Irish community as in previous years.

“Earlier this year, Donegal Town’s Saint Patrick’s Day parade was cancelled due to a “lack of interest” by the community as reported in the Donegal Daily.”

“It’s easy for the Irish community to participate in our Summer festival, just display your Irish Tricolour during June and July and engage in conversations around out unique culture. It’s that simple. Corporate sponsored, paddy Irish man parades need not apply” said the Fly the Flag for Ireland spokesperson.

“We hope this will become an annual Summer festival and Irish communities around Ireland and the world will bring their own grassroots interpretation to the festival as it develops.
