It’s a difficult situation to comprehend, but Ched Evans tried to put it into words this weekend speaking for the first time since he retrial which saw him finally a free man after spending two and a half years in jail.
The 27-yr-old footballer was thrown into the slammer in 2012 when he was convicted of raping a 19-yr-old in a Premier Inn hotel room. Evans consistently said it was consensual sex, but the woman alleged he raped her.
The jury took just a couple of hours to return their verdict of not guilty and Evans was able to walk free from court. He said the whole thing has been a “complete nightmare” and that he is trying to rebuild his life. His representatives are seeking compensation for loss in earnings.
