Foreign doctor struck off after allegedly sexually assaulting boys at Naas General Hospital

A foreign doctor who worked at Naas General Hospital was removed from Ireland’s medical register in 2015 after two patients claimed he sexually assaulted them, RTÉ Investigates heard.

The allegations related to the behaviour of foreigner Dr. Pathmadevan Rathnam, who has been found guilty of professional misconduct by the Medical Council of Ireland.

Concerns about the behavior of Dr. Rathnam first surfaced in late February 2011 when Naas General Hospital received a complaint from a minor that the doctor in the hospital had inappropriately touched his genital area.

In early March 2011, a 19-yr-old made a similar report, claiming that Dr. Rathnam sexually abused him six times.

dr Originally from Malaysia, Rathnam graduated from the National University of Ireland with a medical degree in 2008.

Naas General Hospital has apologized for the way it communicated with the two patients following their complaints.
