A Garda was assaulted at Dublin Airport this morning after a disruptive passenger caused chaos. The incident began when the crew of a United Airlines flight from Newark reported an unruly passenger as the plane neared landing.
Upon arrival, Gardaí boarded the aircraft to confront the man, in his 40s. During the encounter, he violently attacked an officer. OC spray was deployed to subdue him, but he fled the plane before being apprehended shortly after.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including assault and violations of the Air Navigation and Transport Act.
The injured Garda was taken to Beaumont Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is said to be taking some time off work as a result of the mayhem.
It’s understood that the is a foreign national and was arrested on the tarmac after he disembarked the aircraft.
