Julian Myerscough (53), a former law lecturer at the University of East Anglia, was a wanted man in the UK after he absconded from Ipswich Crown Court, Suffolk, on September 30, during a lunch break.
Mr. Myerscough had been found guilty in absentia of 16 charges of downloading indecent images of children, and a warrant had been issued for his arrest.
The fugitive had been spotted travelling on a ferry from Holyhead to Dublin yesterday, and Gardai arrested him in a Dublin city centre hotel earlier today. He had booked a flight to Budapest.
He had been convicted of similar offences back in 2010 and sentenced to 15 months in jail.
