Former Minister for Housing Simon Coveney has been named as new Tanaiste, thus taking the baton from Frances Fitzgerald, after her hasty departure from the post in recent days.
Mr. Coveney is now next in line to the Fine Gael throne, should Taoiseach Leo Varadkar ever be deposed as King of the Fine Gaelers.
Nevertheless, Mr. Coveney would want to get up very early in the morning to catch the self-professed early riser Mr. Varadkar with her guard down.
