The former Taoiseach and Fianna leader Brian Cowen remains in intensive care this morning in the private Beacon Hospital in Sandyford, Dublin.
It’s understood that Cowen was rushed to the hospital late Thursday evening with what is being described as a “serious illness”.
Speculation has been rife on social media as to the extent of Cowen’s illness.
It’s understood that it’s Cowen’s second hospital visit within recent months after he was taken to hospital when he fell ill at a golfing event in April.
Cowen stepped down from his role as Taoiseach in 2011 after succeeding Bertie Ahern in 2008. He was in charge of the country when the infamous guarantee practically bankrupted Ireland for generations to come.
