Gardaí in Cork have confirmed that they are treating the death of a 2-year-old girl in the city on Friday as suspicious.
Although inquiries are currently ongoing, Gardai say they are currently awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination in order to determine the course of their investigation.
They also say that two scenes at apartment complex where the little girl was found, will remain sealed off in order for forensic examinations to take place.
The investigation comes after the toddler died at Cork University Hospital on Friday morning following an incident at an apartment in Elderwood, on the Boreenmanna Road near Balintemple.
