Former Taoiseach John Bruton has said Irish people should be “proud” to reject repeal of 8th amendment

The former Taoiseach John Bruton has spoken out in support of the Eight Amendment of the constitution which vindicates the right to life of unborn babies.

Mr Bruton stated that Ireland should be proud of the protections we afford to the unborn and should unabashedly decline abortion liberalisation in Ireland.

The former Taoiseach spoke about the spirt of the Irish people throughout the trials of the previous centuries which has been marked by “charity towards the weak in our communities” and the that the people of Ireland should be “proud” of protections afford to weakest and most vulnerable in our society, the pre-born.

The former Taoiseach’s comments have so far gained little traction in the mainstream media in Ireland, particularly when compared to the gravity with which Pro-abortion comments by retired politician such as former President Mary McAleese were treated by media outlets.
