It has been confirmed this evening that four individuals have presented themselves as candidates for Ceann Comhairle.
These are Independent TD Maureen O’Sullivan, Fine Gael’s Andrew Doyle, Sinn Fein’s Caoimhghin Ó Caoláin, and Fianna Fáil’s Seán Ó Fearghaíl.
The position of Ceann Comhairle will be particularly sought after in the 32nd Dáil, as its holder will automatically be retained if there is an early election.
