France hold off England fightback to win Six Nations opener




England’s hopes of a Grand Slam have been ended after France won 24-17 in Paris this afternoon.

England who came into the contest as favourites to claim victory were put to dominated early on as a determined French side showed what they can do.

France found themselves 24-0 up after 55 minutes following three converted tries and penalty.

However England who left with a losing bonus point got themselves back in to the match following two converted tries by Johnny May.

Despite England’s late push France managed to hang on and claim the spoils.
