France holds a minute’s silence in memory of the victims of last Thursday’s attack

A minute’s silence was held this morning across France, in honour of all the victims of last Thursday’s deadly attack.

Church bells rang nationwide as the country fell into a respectful silence.

France is in mourning over the deadly attack that left 84 people dead and dozens more fighting for their lives.

Mohamed Bouhlel, the perpetrator of the atrocity, was shot dead by police while carrying out the heinous crime. Bouhlel’s ex-wife, who had been detained after the attack, has now been released without charge. Her lawyer confirmed that she had had no contact with the deceased after she left him due to abusive behaviour during the marriage.

While extremist organization ISIL claimed responsibility for the attack, a link between it and Bouhlel is yet to be established, with some now saying that the attacker was acting alone.
