A woman arrested as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Daniel Aruebose, the child who went missing in north Dublin more than four years ago, has been released without charge.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was detained yesterday morning on suspicion of murder and was held at a garda station in Dublin, reports RTE.

Her period of detention was extended twice while she remained in garda custody, initially for six hours following authorisation by a superintendent, and later for a further 12 hours approved by a chief superintendent.

During her detention, specialist garda interviewers questioned her about Daniel’s disappearance and suspected murder, and formally put evidence gathered during the investigation to her under caution, reports RTE.

Daniel was last seen alive at his home in The Gallery apartments in Donabate, north Dublin, more than four-and-a-half years ago, when he was just three years old.

The woman was the first person arrested in connection with the case, which was upgraded to a homicide investigation 11 days ago, after she was detained on suspicion of murder, reports RTE.

She was held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act before being released without charge earlier this morning.

Gardaí confirmed that a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions, reports RTE.
