Freezing night forecast as cold spell descends over Ireland just in time for the Bank Holiday weekend





Friday night is expected to be a cold one, as temperatures plunge to 0C across many areas.

And daytime temperatures are not going to fare much better, staying in single digits and rising to about 7-8C at best.

There will also be showers, mostly across Connacht, Ulster, and west Munster.

The outlook is for a chilly 72 hours, with the possibility of light snow on higher ground.
