The man suspected to be responsible for the murder of four people, three of them police officers, at a Paris police station had converted to Islam around 18 months ago it has been revealed by French 24-hour news channel BMF TV.
The information is yet to be confirmed and authorities remain strictly silent in relation to the motivation for the stabbing attack that killed three men and one woman at the historic police station at Ile de la Cite, in the heart of Paris.
The suspect had worked at the police station for 20 years and was described by colleagues as a model employee.
The suspect brought a ceramic kitchen knife to his workstation before attacking his colleagues and subsequently being shot dead by another police officer with a rifle.
While authorities have not suggested a motivation BMF TV reported that there were apparent “tensions” between him and his supervisor in recent months.
