Fresh Hope For Charlie: US team of doctors arrive in the UK to examine terminally ill Charlie Gard after being granted special permission

The parents of 11 month old baby Charlie Gard have been given fresh hope after a leading US doctor and his team has arrived in the UK to exam him after they were given special permission.

Little Charlie who is currently on life support has been given a fighting chance this week after the court ruled that the team of US doctors should be given special privilege in the case in order to determine the severity of his condition.

The news which comes after months of legal battles in the UK and in the European Court of Human Rights will surely give the distraught and loving parents a glimmer hope as doctors in the UK have previously stated that Little Charlie’s condition was so severe that he could not be treated which led them to request that his life support machine to be switched off.

However after another appeal the parents were granted special permission that will allow the US doctors to review Charlie’s case whilst under the guidance of doctors at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital rather than them travelling to the US.

Little Charlie who has come to the attention people all across the world suffers form of mitochondrial disease, a rare genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness and brain damage.

According to reports in the UK the 11 month will now undergo further tests which will also include another brain scan in order to determine whether or not he will be able to receive the latest experimental treatment for his condition which is only available in America.

It is believed the devoted parents will learn the severity of Charlie’s condition early next week as the team are scheduled to give their final assessment on July 25th.
