Yesterday, Galway County Council passed a motion calling on the government to immediately suspend the water charges.
The motion was put forward by Independent Councillor James Charity and seconded by Councillor Karey McHugh. It was also passed by some Fine Gael members of the Council.
The fight against water charges, and in particular against Irish Water, is intensifying with every passing day. Protest marches took place in Limerick and Tralee today, and a nationwide march is planned for November 01.
During today’s march in Limerick, a group of protesters threatened to publicly burn Irish Water information packs to ‘give the Government a Halloween scare.’
