A man in his 50s, named as Eddie Hutch senior, has this evening been shot dead in a Dublin city street.
The incident is believed to be a retaliation hit after the killing of 34-year-old David Byrne at the Regency Hotel in Drumcondra last Friday.
A four-men team is suspected to be involved in this evening’s attack, which took place at Poplar Row, North Strand, Dublin 3, at around 7.45pm. A vehicle believed to be the getaway car was reportedly found nearby with a can of petrol inside.
Eddie Hutch senior was related to the late Gary Hutch and Gerry ‘The Monk’ Hutch. His body remains at the scene.
The area is currently sealed off, and diversions are in place.
