
A man in his 30s has been arrested after a garda was injured when he was hit by a scrambler bike in west Dublin last night.
The incident occurred around 9pm on a green space in Blakestown, Blanchardstown, reports RTE.
The garda, who was on foot during a proactive patrol aimed at combatting the sale and distribution of controlled drugs, approached a man riding a scrambler bike.
According to gardaÃ, the man was wearing a face covering while riding the bike across the green area and footpaths, endangering members of the public, reports RTE.
The garda, aged in his 20s, was struck by the motorcyclist as the bike sped along a footpath.
He was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening, reports RTE.
The motorcyclist also received treatment at the same hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening.
He was arrested and is currently being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Dublin garda station, reports RTE.
The scrambler bike involved in the incident has been seized by authorities, reports RTE.
