Police are trying to track down a group of males in a stolen vehicle who chased and struck a teenage Deliveroo driver in the Mahon/Beaumont neighbourhood of Cork during the night, seriously injuring his legs, reports The Mirror.
Around midnight yesterday, the road rage incident happened. Following allegations that the gang had pursued and struck the 23-year-old Deliveroo driver, HSE Advanced paramedics and multiple Cork City Fire Brigade units arrived at the Beaumont scene.
From Mahon to Beaumont in the city’s south side, the gang chased the Brazilian man. Before from the scene, they crashed into the man at Beaumont’s Woodvale Road. The driver with Deliveroo was on a Honda 125 motorcycle, reports The Mirror.
When they heard the ramming, homeowners came out of their houses and sounded the alarm. The man was discovered pinned beneath his bike. One of his legs had suffered a severe complex fracture. For medical attention, the man was brought to Cork University Hospital. While aware, he was in a great deal of discomfort.
The damaged bicycle was taken out of the area. It needs to be investigated forensically. We’ll also look at the location where the incident happened, reports The Mirror.
In what is thought to have been a “road rage” incident, the man told the gardai that he had interacted with the people in the stolen car in the Mahon area, which prompted them to pursue him to Beaumont.
Ten days ago, a Skoda Kodiaq was taken from a residence in Courtbrack, close to Blarney, in County Cork, reports The Mirror.
The gang that later crashed a garda car on the Old Mallow Road on the northside of Cork at 2 a.m. today (Friday) prompted an alarm. The encounter resulted in minor injuries to two gardai. It is believed that after it, the bandits moved towards north Cork.
Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the Mahon or Beaumont regions is being invited to come forward by the Gardai, reports The Mirror.
