Judge Kenneth Connolly found John Egan (61), of Drum, Knock, County Mayo, guilty at a Roscommon Circuit Court hearing on Friday of sexually abusing a woman at the Castlerea Garda station on February 14, 2015, while he was employed there as an immigration officer.

Additionally, he was found guilty of harassing the same victim on many occasions in the county from February 15 to December 31, 2015, reports Breaking News.

In addition, Egan was found guilty of intimidating a different lady on dates from June 1, 2014, to March 4, 2017.

At the Circuit Court’s Friday session, it was revealed that one of Egan’s responsibilities was to meet with non-EU citizens and help them with their visa applications. The victims had contacted the Garda on many occasions at the Garda station when they needed help applying for visas and passports, reports Breaking News.

When one of the ladies visited him regarding her visa application, she informed him that she was single when he inquired.
