Gardaí in Limerick City have launched an investigation after a man was the victim of an alleged assault on Wednesday morning.
It is understood the man aged in his 40s sustained serious injuries following the alleged assault on Augustinian Lane at approximately 2:30am.
Gardaí say the man was taken to University Hospital Limerick and an investigation is currently ongoing.
