Gardaí in Dublin have launched an investigation after a man had part of his ear severed off in a machete attack.
It is understood the man who also received a hand injury was attacked on Monday night at the Basin Street flats in Dublin 8.
The latest incident is the second incident within the last couple of weeks after another man was attacked in a similar incident in Whitefriar Gardens, at the beginning of the month.
Gardaí in Kilmainham are appealing for witnesses to come forward and contact them, they also say that they do not believe that the two incidents are connected.
