Gardaí in Cork have launched an investigation after a man was shot a number of times in Ballyvolane.
It is understood the investigation comes after the man suffered wounds to his arms and chest which occurred at 7.40pm on Friday evening.
Gardaí say the man was taken to Cork University Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.
They added that no arrests have yet been made but an investigation is currently ongoing.
