Gardai in Navan Co Meath have launched a major investigation this morning after a young man was found unconscious with serious head injuries in the town on Wednesday morning.
It is understood the young man who is aged 25, was found by a passer-by at approximately 2.22am on Metges Lane, in the town on Wednesday morning.
Investigating officers have said he was quickly rushed to Our Lady Of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda, before he was later transferred to Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital, where he is said to be in serious condition.
Gardai say they have reason to believe the young man was the victim of an assault and they are conducting a number of lines of enquiry.
They are also urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to contact Navan Garda station.
