Gardai in Co Cork have begun an investigation after skeletal remains were found near a railway line.
It is understood that the investigation comes after the remains which are believed to have been there for sometime where found at Shanty Gate, on the Midleton to Youghal greenway route near the Dungourney Road at approximately 4.30pm on Tuesday afternoon.
Although Gardai are investigating the discovery, they are currently awaiting a report from the State Pathologists Office to determine the course of their investigation.
Gardai say one line inquiry being considered is that the remains believed to be male are historical.
