Gardaí in West Dublin have launched an investigation after two young children discovered a gun on Thursday evening.
According to Dublin Live, the investigation comes after two children discovered the gun in Castlecurragh Heath, Mulhuddart.
The shocking discovery comes less than a week after a shooting in the area.
Dublin Live say the gun was first picked up by a 5-year-old boy before another child picked it up shortly afterwards.
It is believed one of the children’s screams alerted a nearby passer-by.
Gardai say they have been informed of the incident and an investigation is currently ongoing.
