A Garda is recovering in hospital after surgery after he suffered serious injuries following a dangerous driving incident in County Louth, reports Breaking News.
The incident occurred shortly after 4am on Friday morning, when the officer was inspecting a van parked in the Clonmore Estate area of Ardee, and the vehicle was then driven directly at him.
The injured Garda was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries, reports Breaking News.
Authorities have secured the area for a forensic investigation, and gardaí are requesting that any witnesses come forward.
Support services have been made available for the injured officer and his fellow members of the force, reports Breaking News.
