A state of lawlessness is predicted across the country tomorrow, as thousands of rank-and-file gardai put their batons to rest for 24 hours.
There are last-ditch talks aimed at averting the historic strike, but as of this late hour, there has not been any breakthrough.
Members of the Garda Representative Association (GRA) have said that the strike will go ahead “unless we hear of substantial and significant progress towards real and tangible increases in pay.”
There are three more days of strike planned, which is likely to plunge the country into a Kafkaesque state of affairs while well-paid politicians watch from the sidelines.
