Gardaí and Revenue and Customs officials have confirmed that they have seized over one million cigarettes at Dublin Port.
It is understood the discovery was made when officals searched a lorry which came from Rotherham, on Thursday.
Gardaí say the Malboro cigarettes had retail value of almost €500,000 and represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of €422,000.
They added an investigation is currently ongoing.
