Gardai and hospital authorities have launched an investigation into the death of a baby found in the toilets of Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.
It is understood that the newborn baby belonged to a woman of Eastern European origin who presented herself to the hospital on December 6.
The baby was delivered and was some time later found in a toilet area. Hospital staff provided medical care but the baby sadly passed away/
A post-mortem examination will determine the course of the investigation.
