Gardai arrest a man on suspicion of stabbing a pregnant woman in Tipperary

Gardaí were questioning a man suspected of stabbing a pregnant woman that happened over the weekend.

They eventually decided to arrest a man following an incident on Saturday night in Co Tipperary.

Sources confirmed that the pregnant woman was “stabbed” in the incident.

The 20-year-old victim was known to have been rushed to hospital after the attack, but neither she nor her unborn child was in any danger.

The Mirror has learned that the incident took place at a house in a Tipperary village, but we can’t say exactly where for legal reasons.

But sources confirmed that several people witnessed the attack and are collaborating with the Gardaí investigation.

They said the attack came after a dispute broke out at the house.

The suspect was immediately arrested and was questioned by Gardaí.

Gardaí confirmed that the incident took place in a house in a Tipperary village at 6:20 pm on Saturday.

Officers classified it as assault, but we know the victim was stabbed.

According to Mirror, a Garda spokesman said: “The injured woman, aged in her 20s, was taken to Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise with non-life threatening injuries. A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently being detained at Thurles Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984. Investigations are ongoing.”

Sources also confirmed that although the man was questioned at Thurles Garda station, the attack took place elsewhere in Co Tipperary.
