Gardai in Co Longford have confirmed that a man aged in his 30s has been arrested following a robbery at a shop over the weekend.
It is understood that the man who was armed with a hammer was arrested after he stole a quantity of cash from a shop on Park Road, in Longford Town.
Gardai say the man threatened staff before fleeing the scene with a sum of money.
He was later arrested and taken to Longford Garda Station.
