Gardai arrest man in Cork for threatening to kill a politician




Gardai have arrested a British man who threatened to kill an MP in England.

The 41-yr-old Englishman was arrested today in the Cork suburb of Douglas after Gardai executed a search warrant in a house.

It’s understood that gardai arrested the British citizen and confiscated a number of electronic devices from the property.

British police contacted gardai to alert them that a British Labour MP was allegedly threatened with their life.

The man was arrested under Section 4 of the Irish Criminal Code. He is currently being held at Bridewell Garda Railway Station in Cork.

The arrest follows the fatal stabbing of Tory MP Sir David Amess in Leigh-on-Sea last month.
