Gardai arrest one man on suspicion of fraudulent PUP claims

Gardai have arrested one man on suspicion of fraudulent Pandemic Unemployment Payment (PUP) claims.

It is understood that an investigation started following a bogus email telling people that they had been selected for jury service, so they needed to provide personal details.

These details were then used to lodge fraudulent claims, which resulted in up to €165,000 being paid out.

A man in his 40s has been arrested in relation to this incident.
