A major security operation unfolded this evening, after officers attached to the Crime and Security section and the Special Detective Unit stopped a vehicle on the Naas Road, near Long Mile Road junction, shortly after 7:30.
The vehicle was believed to contain explosive material.
A bomb disposal unit was called to ascertain the situation. Two men, aged in their 30s and 40s, were arrested at the scene and are being detained at Ballyfermot and Ronanstown Garda station under the provisions of section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
The Naas road is closed in both direction and in both directions, motorists are advised to avoid the area.
